Is my Airbnb listed as a private room or entire place?

How Should My Airbnb be Listed?
Occasionally there is confusion around how your Airbnb should be classified on the listing, and while you may think "Private Room," your space is actually classified as an "Entire Guest Suite."

Why is this the Classification?
The separate entrance and private bathroom classify your layout as an entire place, and the guest suite designation indicates that you live in the main portion of the house.

Informing Guests
To inform guests of this, it's helpful to have a quick note in the "summary" section of your listing that includes language along the lines of:

"We live in the main, separable part of the property and are excited for you to use our space as a home base to unwind or explore the city!"

Additionally, Airbnb mentions of "Potential for Noise" prior to guests booking, which sets expectations, adds context, and helps clarify that you live in the main part of the house.

Your auto-messages are one final area where you can add additional context and information about the layout to better inform guests. The inquiry and booking reservation are typically the best place for this.

Fielding Guest Questions
While your listing qualifies as an entire guest suite, and we include additional context in the Airbnb listing and auto-messages, some newer Airbnb guests may remain confused about the unit's layout. Feel free to be as open, friendly, and honest with them about this, as you've already taken several steps to inform and prepare guests of this designation. :)
